Still Wonderful

May 1st, 2020. 10 years ago today I became a born-again Christian. A decade ago.

Can I be honest?

This past year has tested me in many ways. I feel like I’ve had more questions than answers. More doubt than faith.

But I’ve held on. By His grace alone, I’ve held on.

I often tend to shut down my feelings by comparing them. I remind myself that people are going through much tougher situations. Sometimes I feel pathetic to feel. I hate to feel. And while reminding yourself that others are in worse situations can be a good practice for gratitude, it also seems to be ideal for making your feelings less than.

Quarantine Blues

2am: You finally fall asleep.

5am: You wake up.

Undoubtedly, you’re having some trouble sleeping.

Your thoughts keep you awake. You lie with eyes wide open in the dark, thinking about it over and over again. You replay the memories. The game of chess. The back and forward and diagonal moves. You have unanswered questions. You have doubts. Fears. 

The Fruit’s Nectar

She bites. The fruit’s nectar trickles down her hand, down her forearm, dripping to the ground like rain at the bend of her elbow.

Jars of FAITH

In 2 Kings 4:1-7 we read about a widow in desperate need. Her deceased husband’s debt has now become her own. The creditors have threaten to take her sons as slaves. She runs to the prophet of God, Elisha, pleading for help. Her actions spoke the words written in Psalm 121:1, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of the heaven and the earth.”
